Single Riders Jacket in Greige Suede – A Bespoke Order

Our bespoke single riders jacket is the epitome of luxury casualwear. We invite you to take a closer look.
Background of the Order
Mr. I first visited our store for trouser repairs. He mentioned that while he owns several leather jackets due to his fondness for them, ready-to-wear options often fall short, especially in terms of length. This led him to place an order for our bespoke leather jacket. He used a hometown tax gift certificate for the order.
The item of choice was a single rider's jacket made from light-colored suede, designed to be casually thrown over a T-shirt. We discussed the design based on reference images, and Mr. I also brought in some of his leather jackets for us to review. Our suede is made of supple, fine-grained sheepskin. After selecting a few color candidates from our swatches, we arranged to order the actual suede for review during the fitting stage.
Basting Fitting
Unlike wool, leather cannot be resewn due to visible stitch marks. Therefore, the basting fitting is conducted using a thin fabric called muslin, in place of the actual leather. Since muslin is thin and has little stretch, it reveals imperfections clearly, making it ideal for checking body adjustments even more precisely than with leather. Pocket placements and other design elements are marked with pen.
Mr. I's left shoulder is naturally higher. While the left side aligns well, additional slope adjustment is needed for the right shoulder. Fine-tuning the shoulder angles improves both appearance and comfort.
We also confirmed the sleeve curvature and width. Compared to tailored jackets, rider's jackets have a snugger fit around the sleeves--both to block wind and reduce air resistance. This tight sleeve design is a key aesthetic of the rider's jacket.
We closed the zipper to the top to check the fit around the stand collar, chest, and abdomen.
This was Mr. I's second fitting. The jacket length--an issue with most ready-to-wear options--has now been adjusted to a balanced, ideal length. The fit and body adjustments are now much more precise. With just a few refinements, we will move on to the final tailoring in the selected suede.
Completion
The single rider's jacket is now complete. Originally designed as outerwear for motorcyclists, this version has been refined for everyday wear. While traditional rider's jackets are designed to fit best when leaning forward on a motorcycle, this jacket is tailored to rest naturally in an upright position, just like a regular jacket.
Minimal and urban. Yet, the craftsmanship imparts a sense of warmth and character.
The hallmark of a single rider's jacket: the stand collar. Secured with a snap button.
Supple sheepskin suede that invites touch. The beige tone has a subtle pink hue.
The zipper and stand collar fastened completely.
All zippers--front, chest, and waist--are tailored to conceal the base tape, creating a clean, minimalist look.

The zippers are the top-tier EXCELLA series by YKK, in silver. With bespoke tailoring, not only the color but even the design of the slider (zip puller) can be customized. For this jacket, a sleek, modern-style slider was chosen to complement the minimalist aesthetic.
Of course, it features a double zipper. This not only allows for temperature control but also lets you adjust how much of the inner layers are visible and enhances comfort.
The stand collar stands just right--firm yet elegant.
Cleanly sewn sleeve attachment.
Rider's jackets can have various back styles. Following our minimalist theme, this version features a yoke and a seamless one-piece back panel.
The yoke detail. The fine stitching stands out against the smooth leather, and the flow from the shoulder to the collar is beautifully executed.
A back that's truly a showpiece--crafted from only the finest sections of leather, a hallmark of true bespoke craftsmanship.
Detailed stitching. The tighter the stitches, the more durable the jacket becomes, while also allowing the thread to blend into the leather, resulting in a refined finish. Since leather cannot be re-stitched, each seam reflects the artisan's precision and skill--a true testament to craftsmanship.
The zipped cuffs are another rider's jacket signature. When zipped, the cuffs fit snugly to block wind while riding. They're also designed to unzip for ease of wearing and removal.
An adjustable hem, completed with horn buttons in a matching suede tone, enhances both function and design.
Wearing the Jacket
Mr. I tried on the jacket. By chance, he was wearing a light knit and jeans that day--an ideal match for the piece.
The fact that the jacket blends seamlessly into the client's wardrobe and aura from the moment it's finished is a hallmark of bespoke tailoring, where numerous fitting sessions and conversations ensure the ideal outcome.
I love the soft folds that form when the arm is bent.
Casual and relaxed, yet it exudes an unmistakable sense of luxury.
It looks great zipped up as well. The length is perfect.
The back view is just as stunning. The shoulders fit perfectly.
The sleeves fall beautifully along the arms.
Mr. I was truly pleased with the result. In fact, he later placed a second order for a double rider's jacket in the same fit--an outcome we are thrilled about.
We are honored that you trusted us with the tailoring and fitting process. May this one-of-a-kind bespoke rider's jacket bring you years of satisfaction and style.
