I would like to introduce the Raglan Coat from The Dressing Lab.

Let me introduce our Raglan Coat. What makes this coat different from our Chesterfield Coat and Staincollar Coat styles is the sleeve construction. The Raglan Coat uses what is called a raglan sleeve, where the sleeve extends in one piece all the way to the collar, creating a diagonal seam from the underarm to the collarbone. Naturally, it has no shoulder padding, giving the coat a softer and more rounded shoulder line. The cuffs are also finished with tabs.

Among our coats, this silhouette offers the most relaxed fit and the most generous volume. It has a beautiful A-line shape, and the longer length creates a rich, flowing silhouette. Depending on your preference, tightening the back belt at the waist can further emphasize this drape.

The design is available in both single-breasted and double-breasted styles. The double-breasted raglan has an atmosphere similar to a trench coat. The generously sized upper collar is also designed so that it stands beautifully when worn up.

There are two main tailoring options. One is the standard fully lined construction, and the other is a lighter construction with minimal lining, often called a large facing. If you value smoothness when putting the coat on and a warmer feel, the fully lined option is a good choice. If you prefer lightness, the large facing construction may be more suitable. It is especially recommended if you are considering a raincoat made from cotton or nylon.

Regarding the fit, this coat is quite different from a Chesterfield Coat, which is designed to follow the body more closely. The Raglan Coat is meant to be worn with a relaxed fit, allowing you to enjoy its drape, softness, and lightness. I usually recommend a length that falls below the knee. I would be happy for you to wear it casually, almost as if you were throwing on a robe. You can tighten the waist firmly with the belt, leave the front open, tuck the belt into the pockets, and let the hem move naturally in the wind.

You can also enjoy a wide range of fabric choices. A substantial coat fabric is, of course, a wonderful option, but flannel fabrics originally intended for suits or jackets can create a softer and more relaxed atmosphere. It can also be made as a spring coat or raincoat using cotton gabardine, waxed cotton, or even nylon. Because of its relaxed character, it can be worn from business settings to everyday casual wear, depending on the fabric and styling. With its many ways of wearing, wide fabric choices, and versatility across different occasions, the Raglan Coat is a style I would be happy for many customers to try.
