Second Summer Proposal: “Capri Shirt” & “Band Collar Shirt”

The rainy season inevitably returns as part of the cycle of the four seasons.
Changes in air pressure and humidity can sometimes affect how we feel, but by choosing light and comfortable clothing, we hope to make these days a little more pleasant.
With that in mind, here is our second proposal for the coming season.

The "Classic Shorts" introduced in our previous News are a wonderful choice for the warmer months. For this second proposal, I would like to introduce two shirts that offer exceptional comfort and an open, relaxed feeling: the Capri Shirt and Band Collar Shirt.

Capri Pullover Shirt

A classic summer resort-style pullover shirt.
This was the first time we offered this style as a made-to-order item, and we added it to our Sports Line in response to requests from our customers.

When it comes to a Capri Shirt, linen is an ideal fabric.
It has a pleasant firmness while offering excellent moisture absorption and breathability, helping it feel dry and comfortable against the skin.
For me, it is one of the fabrics that feels particularly well suited to summer shirts.

As a general principle, clothing tends to become more formal as less skin is exposed.
Shorts and Capri Shirts sit toward the opposite end of that spectrum.
The deeply open neckline helps keep you cool while creating a relaxed resort atmosphere.

A loop closure at the front is one of the characteristic details of the Capri Shirt.
Leaving it completely open can create quite a bold impression, so for wearing it around the city, I recommend fastening one loop.

Unlike a conventional shirt, where the front panels overlap, even when fastened this style leaves a slight opening at the chest.
This creates a noticeably airy and comfortable feel.

The collar construction also differs from that of a standard shirt.
Rather than using a separate collar stand and collar, it is made as a one-piece collar, creating a soft natural roll.
It can be worn neatly laid down or slightly raised for a more relaxed look.

A generously open collar suits the Capri Shirt particularly well.
In addition to this classic wide-spread collar, a more open cutaway style is also available.

The cuffs are kept simple, without a slit.
(You can choose either three-quarter sleeves, as shown here, or long sleeves. Long sleeves are finished with standard buttoned cuffs.)

You can wear the sleeves as they are,
or fold them back or roll them up casually for a different look.

The hem is cut straight, with no difference between the front and back lengths.
Side slits are also included.

Here it is being worn.
Because it is made-to-order, the sizing can be adjusted according to preference, but I chose a slightly more relaxed fit than I normally wear with my dress shirts.

Since it is a pullover, a little extra room also makes it easier to put on and take off.
This was my first Capri-style pullover shirt, so it felt slightly unfamiliar at first, but I soon became very comfortable wearing it.

The Capri Shirt works with many different bottoms, but I particularly like pairing it with shorts.

It works well for everyday summer wear, although I feel it is especially suited to seaside settings.
I hope to take mine along to Atami this summer.

Band Collar Shirt

Our other proposal is the Band Collar Shirt.
We previously introduced the pullover version; this time, I would like to show you the full-open style.

This one is also made from 100% linen.
The soft, almost watercolor-like appearance of the color has a character that feels quite different from cotton.

I particularly like the balance of this band collar.
It is neither too high nor too low, giving it a very natural appearance.

Here it is being worn.
While the pullover version was styled more casually, the full-open version can be worn in a slightly dressier way.
The Band Collar Shirt also pairs beautifully with a waistcoat.

Here it is worn on its own.
(Please excuse the wrinkles, as it had been worn under a waistcoat.)
When worn by itself, rolling up the sleeves or draping knitwear over the shoulders adds a nice touch.

It also works naturally with a suit.
When you want to wear a suit without looking overly formal, a Band Collar Shirt softens the overall impression.
It also gives the styling a slightly more distinctive character.

From casual outfits to slightly dressier styling with suits, the Band Collar Shirt is a very versatile piece.
