A Showcase of Our Made-to-Measure Cashmere Knitwear

Here is an introduction to one of The Dressing Lab's signature items: the cashmere knitwear collection.

Each piece is crafted in Iwate Prefecture at a factory specializing in cashmere, using the finest Japanese cashmere yarn available. Compared with the ultra-high-gauge knits often seen in luxury brands, these garments have a more understated sheen and a modest appearance at first glance--yet the softness and comfort speak for themselves.

Because each piece is generously knitted with abundant cashmere yarn, it keeps its shape for years. With regular brushing and washing, the knit gradually develops a richer character over time. These are simple, timeless pieces that you can enjoy for a lifetime. Although they are garments worthy of care, we encourage you to wear them effortlessly as part of your everyday wardrobe.

Let us begin with the classic lineup.

V-Neck "V-neck pullover"

You can choose the depth of the V-neck according to your preference. This version shown is a shallow V, ideal for layering with an open-collar shirt or a T-shirt. For an elegant style with a tie, we recommend a deeper V-neck for a more classic look.

Crew Neck "Crew neck pullover"

The crew neck is one of our most popular casual options. For wearing under a tailored jacket, a true-to-size fit is ideal, but for a more relaxed look, sizing up by one or two sizes works beautifully--thanks to the high-quality cashmere, even an oversized silhouette remains elegant.

In early autumn, I often use a crew or V-neck sweater as a lightweight layer by simply draping it over my shoulders instead of wearing a jacket. Pullover knits can be slightly inconvenient when taking them on and off, but placing one over your shoulders before stepping out provides just the right warmth. When indoors, simply remove it. It's an effortless option for transitional weather and adds depth when a shirt alone feels too simple.

A casually draped knit also makes a wonderful accent to a tailored jacket.

Cardigan & Scarf "Cardigan & Scarf"

Wear it as a pop of color inside a jacket or casually layer it over a crew-neck T-shirt--the styling possibilities are endless. Pairing the cardigan with a matching turtleneck or scarf as an ensemble also creates a refined look.

Our scarves can be ordered in a single color or as a bi-color design. Selecting your preferred color combination is part of the fun. This example features black with a light grey border. Since its debut last year, this scarf has been a popular gift choice--soft, airy cashmere is always appreciated. You can also add embroidered initials for an even more personal touch.

Turtleneck "Turtle neck"

This is our most frequently ordered knitwear item. Among all knit types, the turtleneck is the most elegant and pairs beautifully with both jackets and suits. With no need for a shirt underneath, it is an effortlessly complete outfit.

It also complements a suit seamlessly. A mock neck can be ordered as an alternative for those who prefer a slightly shorter neckline.

Polo "Polo"

A clean silhouette with a shorter body length.

A small rounded collar and a refined narrow placket define the design. The mother-of-pearl buttons add the perfect finishing touch.

Traditional long ribbing at the hem.

The sleeve rib can also be folded halfway for an elegant finish. This polo works wonderfully for autumn and winter golf--when a pique polo shirt feels too light, a cashmere polo provides warmth and refinement. Choosing a vivid color can also be fun.

Every detail is crafted with care to ensure exceptional comfort. When discussing what to wear underneath with the knitwear artisans, the conclusion was: "Ideally, wear it against bare skin." Cashmere's natural moisture absorption keeps you dry even without an undershirt, and high-quality cashmere has no itchiness whatsoever. As the fabric softens further with washing, wearing it directly on the skin and letting it develop character is truly ideal. Of course, wearing an undershirt is entirely fine if that is your preference.

One of the greatest advantages of made-to-order knitwear is the ability to customize not only the color and design but also the sizing. As someone with a smaller frame, I always struggled with sleeve and body lengths in ready-to-wear knits, often needing to tuck in excess fabric when wearing them under a jacket. Since offering custom sizing, I've been completely free from that discomfort. Wearing knitwear in the perfect length is a joy--though oversized styling for casual looks is lovely in its own way. If you often fold hems or have pieces altered, consider ordering knitwear in your ideal size.

Choose from these 25 colors. The clarity of the hues is a testament to the high purity of the cashmere. I'm planning to order a mock neck in a beautifully heathered sand beige to pair with my brown suits.
