"GOLDEN SELECTION"
The Drapers "Golden Selection" is a seasonal collection that brings together distinctive and slightly bold fabrics, available only for that particular season. While all fabrics are recommended, here we present the ones that particularly caught our attention.
Wool Jacketing
A regular feature of the Golden Selection, this 100% wool series has a unique, uneven texture that resembles a linen blend. It strikes a perfect balance between casual and elegant.
Available in a wide variety of patterns including houndstooth, stripes, solids, and checks.
Wool Silk Linen Denim
Another impressive addition. In recent years, there has been a trend of weaving casual fabrics traditionally made from cotton--such as corduroy or denim--in wool to achieve an elegant look. Drapers has released an outstanding interpretation of this concept.
Alongside the classic indigo blue, the range includes khaki, brown, black, and even camouflage--a truly powerful lineup. Personally, I wish this was not just a limited Golden Selection item, but part of their permanent collection.

Wool Linen Mohair Cotton
A first-time encounter with this unique four-fiber blend! Composed of 73% wool as the base, blended with 12% linen, 8% mohair (likely to add crispness and luster), and 7% cotton (likely to add softness).
Available in 12 pastel-like shades with a very clean look. The horizontal linen texture enhances its fresh and breezy feel. Vibrant colors would look stunning in women's suits or coordinated sets, while for men, an unconstructed suit without lining or canvas would pair perfectly with casual innerwear for a resort-inspired style.
Linen Silk Cotton
Composed of 55% linen, blended with silk and cotton. With its loose weave, this fabric has the quintessential summer tweed look, yet it is surprisingly lightweight at just 280g.
The muted luster and subtly faded tones are particularly appealing. The collection offers 16 check patterns and 13 solid colors--many of them unique, yet never flashy.

"MONTECARLO"
The popular "Jacket & Solare" bunch has been reintroduced under the new name "Montecarlo" with a revised composition.
The collection is made up of three qualities: Montecarlo, Herringbone, and Wool Seersucker.
Montecarlo
As the name of the bunch suggests, "Montecarlo" is the star of this collection--a unique hopsack woven from coarser 21-micron wool fibers.
The thick yarns are tightly twisted and woven into a mesh structure, making the fabric soft yet highly wrinkle-resistant, with exceptional breathability. For those seeking a simple sports jacket that is both elegant and durable, Montecarlo is an excellent choice.
With a weight of 280g, it works beautifully as an unstructured, partially lined summer jacket, but when fully lined, it can also serve as a versatile three-season garment.
Montecarlo offers an impressive 40-color lineup!

Herringbone
This fabric is rare to find. The wider herringbone pattern lends a casual touch, while its gentle sheen adds sophistication. Despite its delicate appearance, it is woven with double-twisted yarns for excellent resilience, making it exceptionally well-tailored.
Perfect for three-season jackets and, according to Drapers, also highly recommended for suits.
Wool Seersucker
The long-selling wool seersucker returns with new colors. While seersucker is typically made from cotton, this 100% wool version is particularly distinctive. Alongside their winter wool corduroy, it is a fabric that strongly reflects the Drapers identity.
In addition to the cooling, non-cling feel of seersucker, the wool composition makes it wrinkle-resistant and surprisingly stretchy--almost to the point where one might suspect the presence of polyurethane.
Available in stripes and solids, with our shop often creating navy solid setups that appear classic at first glance, yet are far from ordinary. Indigo blue, beige, and green also make striking choices.
Whether tailored as a standalone jacket or trousers, this is a fabric you will inevitably want to own as a complete set.
Were there any fabrics from Drapers' 2023 Spring/Summer collection that caught your eye? Please look forward to the second part.
